The IPS Counselling Programme has been developed based on the“International Model for School Counseling Programs” created by Fezler and Brown in July of 2011 with feedback from international school counsellors around the world. This model serves as aframework to develop quality school counselling programmesthat show results specifically tailored to the context and needsof international schools. The purpose of developing the IPSCounselling Programme is to ensure that every student receives thebenefits of the programme. FOUNDATION

- is comprehensive in scope and developmental in nature
- addresses the academic, career, personal/social, needs of allstudents in a global context
- supports the IPS School Mission
- incorporates Personal, Social, Health, and Economics (PSHE)education based on UK National Curriculum
- aims to meet the demands of every child with his or her uniquecombination of needs, traditions, culture, and abilities
- uses appropriate data to drive programme decisions,development, and to monitor student achievement
- requires continual review and revision in order to meet the needsof the school
THE IPS COUNSELLOR:
- is an advocate for every student
- is available to collaborate with students, parents, teachers,administrators, and community members whenever possible
- is responsible for planning, designing, coordinating, andevaluating the school counseling program with input fromstakeholders (i.e. staff, parents, students, and community)
- is an advocate for educational reform with input fromstakeholders
- should have access to current resources and professionaldevelopment
- provides input for the integration of PSHE education throughoutthe school
